I see so much beauty in the world around me - in plants, animals, natural phenomena, breathtaking sunrises and sunsets, sunlight dancing on water and the sade of trees. It never leaves me indifferent, it restores my emotional strength. Through my art I am able to reveal the beauty that surrounds us, capturing and immortilizing fleeting moments that often go unnoticed. A butterfly in my painting will never fly away and flower will never wither. I work with variety of mediums, including oils, watercolors, colored pencils, fineliners, graphite, charcoal...

I enjoy building worlds filled with different characters and stories. Through my paintings I travel and I invite everyone to step into these adventures with me.

Sergey Kovalchuk, known professionally as Captolabrus, is a Russia based artist, naturalist and entomologist. He specializes in oil landscapes and animalism, as well as mixed-media illustrations. His work is inspired by all divine creation - from microscopic insects to the cosmic structures of our universe.
